there's no place like home

{Dress: Similar | Chambray Shirt: Similar | Bag: Felix Rey for Target (long time ago) | Shoes: Ann Taylor (mine were marked down significantly)}

As a child, "The Wizard of Oz" was my all-time favorite movie.  It's possible (maybe even probable) that it was my favorite because it was the only movie we owned (and by owned I mean my mom recorded the TV version on a blank tape commercials and all).  I watched it pretty much every day. So it's only fitting that at the ripe-old age of 28, I would want my own modern-day version of Dorothy's ruby red slippers.  If my 10-year-old self could see me now, I'm confident she would give me her nod of approval.  Sadly, she never owned a pair of shoes such as these because her feet grew faster than the rest of her and stores didn't have the pretty, glittery foot apparel in clown sizes (that is the end of my shoe rant for now).

You just can't appreciate the sparkliness of these beauties in the photos.  They are showstoppers folks...real honest to goodness showstoppers.  All I have to do is click my heels three times and say, there's no place like home and I magically appear back in the comfort of my humble abode.  If that's not a bargain buy, I don't know what is.

All kidding aside, this outfit was perfect for running around town on a very hot Chicago day.  I felt cute and comfortable and the outfit easily transitioned to beach mode.  I just donned my swimsuit, shed the chambray shirt and replaced my sparkly slippers with sandals.  I love good transitional outfits like that!

Now tell me because I must know...what is your favorite pair of shoes in your closet?  My golden slippers are definitely at the top of my list!

  2. Dorothy would approve. I do too. I have been looking for red flats or shoes for weeks and I'm failing. I just go with my favorite pair of shoes...one pair I like are my brown high heels with little holes in them as an accessory, but not too high. I still want to walk and run in them and not end up with a massive leg/foot and back ache. ;)

  10. Favorite shoe? Well for every day it's my Me Too Patty Bow flats--seriously so comfortable! My newest favorite are my green Kate Spade shoes with the rhinestone bows. I blogged about them today... they're brilliant! I'm kind of obsessed with them! I do love those pretty sparklers you have!!!
