furry.

{Vest: Similar | Shirt: Similar | Boots: Steve Madden}

I might have a tiny resemblance to Chewbacca in this outfit, but I don't care. This vest is so warm and cozy. Perfect for Chicago winters.

If I wasn't pregnant and hadn't walked a million miles this day, I would have swapped the knee-high boots for heeled booties for a chic-er look. But I am pregnant and I did walk a million miles, so boots it was.

Another very, very sad side effect of this pregnancy is that I hate the idea of lipstick. Like absolutely HATE it. And if you haven't gathered from the title of this blog I LOVE lipstick. It's very, very tragic. Sometimes I can manage it like this day. But as soon as I come home, I wipe it off. Who am I?!? Since when does pregnancy change something so central to who you are like lipstick?!?

Oh and when the lipstick comes off that means the real clothes are replaced by my husband's t-shirt and my trusty pj pants. Just being honest here people.

Lastly, I just want to thank all you lovely readers for your sweet comments to our big announcement yesterday. You guys make me want to be one stylish pregnant lady! Thank you for joining me on this journey!

a winner.

{Sweater: Similar | Shirt: Gap | Jeans: Old Navy | Shoes: Target}

I hate to admit it but a lot of my winter clothes are still in storage. I'm just a little late on the season change (this happens a lot). But I pulled a few things out before I headed west and this sweater was one of them. I had it last year and liked the idea of it but never really loved it. Now I love it. I think it might...dare I say it...be the greatest sweater I own. Oh and you can't tell in the photos but my shirt has teeny, tiny little polka dots, so now it is my favorite shirt. Put my favorite shirt and the greatest sweater together and what have you got....a winner my friends. And probably the only time I have pulled off a semi-monochromatic look and liked it! And to top it all off this outfit is so me. I like simple combos that pop and well, polka dots.

snow bunny.

{Vest: J. Crew | Sweater: Similar | Shirt: J. Crew Factory | Necklace: Loft | Jeans: Old Navy | Shoes: Target}

Cute...yes. Practical...um no. Remind me to never throw snow with my bare hands again. It makes them very, very cold. Oh and apparently wedge boots are not so great for standing in the snow. Who knew?!? It's lucky that these photos aren't of me on my bottom since I was sliding all around.

This was my Thanksgiving Day outfit. We had family photos so I wanted something with a little bit of pop. Lilac and red does that quite nicely I think. And believe it or not these pants are just stretchy enough to accomodate a post-feast belly. That's always important to remember when dressing for the holidays.

By the way, I'm not really a snow bunny. More like a fire sitter. Yes, I do believe that is an apt description of myself.

casual.

{Snood: Similar | Top: Similar | Jacket: Similar | Jeans: Similar | Shoes: Similar}

{Goose head shadow: priceless}

Okay, okay I know that I am casual pretty much every day. But this is even more casual than usual, I think. I wasn't planning on taking photos this day, but since the temperatures are dropping and the days are shorter I can't afford to pass up any opportunity. I can be pickier when summer rolls around.

Let's talk about this snood. First off, I really hate that word. Couldn't they think of something that sounds slightly more stylish and classy? Snood is just not cute. But if there were ever a snood that could be considered cute, it is this one. I so, so love it. I think I could wear it with just about anything. It falls in just the right way...not too short and not too bulky. Just perfect.

mustard stripes.

I truly believe this might be the last of the fall-like photos. The temperatures just keep dropping and the leaves are steadily drifting to the ground.

And if I'm being completely honest with you, I would tell you that I haven't worn an actual outfit in the last week and a half (With the exception of the other day. Apparently it's not appropriate to wear an XXL Sammy Sosa shirt and pj pants to the airport. Who knew.) But since I don't really like being honest, we will pretend that I didn't just come clean with you guys. We'll just gloss over that fact and move on to this glorious sweater that it took me a year to figure out how to style. Yes, I am full of all sorts of admissions today.

And let's chat a moment about belts shall we? I buy all sorts of belts: wide ones, skinny ones, colored ones, leopard ones and sparkly ones and they are all comfortably hanging out in my closet where they stay pretty much all the time because I never wear them. I have a large bust so belts tend to accentuate that more than I'd like. I buy them because they are pretty but never wear them because I look too busty. Logical huh? This is an example of where a belt works for me. The chambray shirt is a looser fit and the cardigan is open so the belt adds another dimension but without accentuating my bust. So if you are like me, give this look a shot. I promise you will be pleased.

no-brainer.

{Scarf: Target | Sweater: Gap | Jacket: Similar | Jeans: Old Navy | Boots: Tory Burch}

I want you guys to get a sense of my everyday style but sometimes my everyday style is a little ho-hum. There are times when I try to push my boundaries in the style department. And there are times when I just crave ease and comfort. Those outfits aren't necessarily the most ingenious combinations, but they show you what my innate style is. These are the pieces that I turn to time and time again.

And as you can tell from yesterday and today's post, this jacket is getting more action then it probably should. I'm just not ready to turn to my real winter jackets so I keep grabbing this guy on my way out the door. Best purchase ever. Although I have a camel colored one that I think needs to come out of hiding...

What are your comfort pieces? Do you guys have an addiction to cargo jackets this time of year like me?

pumpkin carving attire!

{Top: Similar | Vest: J. Crew | Jeans: Old Navy | Shoes: Target}

Since we had friends over this weekend for pumpkin carving and painting, I needed to keep my attire relatively relaxed you know in case a whole thing of paint was thrown at me. Very possible my friends, very possible.

 I still wanted to look cute and put together. I love the colors and seasonality of this look. Very fall. And can I just say...I am in love with these shoes! My friend Chris posted about them and I am so stinking happy with them. This is just a warning that you may see these babies more often than you would like. Every outfit in my head gets better if I pair these with it.

Do yourself a favor, go buy these babies. You won't regret it. I sure as heck haven't!

two-sided sweater.

{Top: Loft | Vest: Similar | Jeans: Similar | Shoes: Similar}

Happy Wednesday everyone! How is your week going? Mine has been super busy (this seems to be the theme this week). It seems like I can't get any of the little things done like going through the mail, doing the dishes or putting laundry away because I am running around doing a million big things (like trying to get my oven fixed STILL). Am I even making sense?!? One day I would just like to do nothing. Maybe in five years when my kid is in school? Don't burst my bubble here.

Anyway on to the good things...like this sweater. Can I just say, I love it. I mean paisley on one side and stripes on the other, does it really get any better than that? People, it's all about the little joys in life like a two-sided sweater. And finding your long lost wide leg jeans. That's the stuff dreams are made of.
