pink pops.

{Top: Ann Taylor Loft | Sweater: Similar | Purse: Similar | Shoes: Similar}

Those of you who follow me on Instagram know that I chopped my hair off. Nothing too crazy but still a big change. Other than a late night freak out, I have been really, really happy with my choice. I feel like my new hairstyle is way more stylish and fun. But then I see these photos and {gasp} I am regretting it. My hair never looked like this in real life. But of course here in these photos, it is perfect.

Why does this always happen? I swear in every other photo shoot from the last two weeks my hair just looks bad. And the one photo shoot taken before the big chop and it's perfect. Blarg.

It's official. I can't change my hair without regretting it...ever. Are you guys the same way?!

mint, navy and red.

{Sunglasses: Kate Spade | Jacket: Similar | Shirt: Ann Taylor Loft | Short: Similar | Clutch: Gap | Sandals: Target}

These are the last photos from my vacation in paradise and unfortunately it seems way too long ago. Real life has settled in, the tan has faded and the relaxed vibe is gone. We are in baby mode--getting the nursery together, washing onesies and making sure we are ready when the time comes. Busy, busy!

I absolutely love the simplicity of this outfit.  A little bit of mint, a little bit of eyelet, and a little bit of denim. The perfect combo in my opinion.

weekend wear: minty fresh!

I am so ready for the weekend...how about you guys? I adore everything about this look from those perfectly printed pants to the touch of coral to those adorable heeled sandals. Can you believe those pants are from Old Navy? I want them oh so bad! So cute!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I will see you back here on Monday as usual!

polka dots and mint.

{Jacket: Similar | Belt: Target | Sweater: Similar | Tunic: Old Navy | Pants: Similar | Shoes: Madewell}

Oh man getting dressed these days is well...not easy. The weather just refuses to warm up, so I am forced to remix the the few, very few pieces that are still appropriate for colder weather. This means lots of open layers.

It's a little too late in the game to go purchase sweaters that I can only wear for (what will hopefully only be) a few more weeks. And the sweaters I do have are not maternity so they fit very awkwardly (that's a nice way of putting it). So all this to say, my creativity is really being put to the test. Most days I am cold because I can't button any of my layers and I refuse to put on my winter coat in the middle of April (some evenings I cave because I just can't stand being cold anymore).

Please tell me it is warmer where you guys are! Somebody needs to be enjoying the sunshine!

first skirt of the year!

{Necklace: Similar | Jacket: J. Crew | Tee: Gap | Skirt: Similar | Shoes: Target}

Happy Tuesday friends! I do believe this is my first skirt this year. Can we say amen to that? The weather this weekend was gorgeous and I was able to don something other than pants. Yay!

You may be wondering what the heck GroopDealz is or maybe you already know about this wonderfulness. It's another one of those deal sites (yeah I know...another one) but it's actually really good deals. My friend Chris mentioned it and I had to check it out. I got both this necklace (which looks just like the BaubleBar version that is now sold out) and this super cute striped skirt. I was a little nervous about whether I would like the items but when you are paying $10 or $15 it doesn't really matter, does it? The good news is I love everything I've gotten! I love that it's trendy and cheap. Two big perks in my book. Don't worry this isn't sponsored or anything. Just trying to share with my fellow fashionistas.

Oh and I have been on the lookout for flat booties. I wanted something a little more mom-friendly than my heeled ones. And I found these beauties at Target. Trust me you will see them...a lot. Have a good day!

navy & mint.

{Necklace: Similar | Scarf: Target | Cardi: Similar | Flats: J. Crew Factory}

It's official I am entering the not so attractive part of my pregnancy. There are less and less "keeper" photos and fewer and fewer outfit options. I know I still have a ways to go and I am not really sure how I'm gonna maintain a style blog!

Not only has my mid-section grown but it seems that every part of me has. Funny story for you...not so much for me. I decided to get a pedicure last week and forgot to change my pants. I mean I'm lucky I remembered to shave my legs.

So I get there and cannot get my pants up. It literally took me more than five minutes to hike up my pants to just below knee level. And even that was pretty excruciating. As I am sitting there getting my pedicure, it seems that my pants are getting tighter and tighter and I'm getting more and more uncomfortable. All I can think is, how am I gonna get these down before my manicure? Finally after several minutes of stewing I come up with the plan that I will go to the bathroom so that I can somehow extract my pants off my legs. And after my pedicure that's just what I do.

Um it took a really, really long time to get them back down. I even considered asking someone in the nail salon for scissors so I could just cut them off. And to prove this was no joke, I walked a way with a nasty, nasty bruise all the way around my leg where my pants were stuck. Attractive I know.

The beauty of motherhood folks. This is it.

mom style.

{Jacket: Similar | Scarf: Similar | Shirt: J. Crew Factory | Shoes: Converse}

This outfit is the epitome of my mom style. Comfort is key. After pining over white Chucks for a very, very long time, I finally got them. And I couldn't be happier. As a mom, I really feel like you need two pairs of go-to shoes (maybe more). One super comfy tennis-shoe pair and one nicer no-brainer pair. These chucks are clearly my comfy pair. My nude flats are my nicer no-brainer pair because they go with everything. I love the style that each affords.

It's super important that we look and feel our best as moms but sometimes we don't always have the time we need to do so. This is a get-out-of-bed-no-shower-and-go type of outfit. It's so easy and it still looks cute. And if you know me by now, you know that no look is complete without a smear or two of red lipstick. It takes the look up a level every single time.

springy.

{Necklace: J. Crew Factory | Blazer: Similar | Dress: Old Navy | Purse: Similar | Shoes: J. Crew Factory}

I think I look a little like an Easter egg with the colors and various bands of design around my expanding middle. Nonetheless I love this dress and I love it even more knowing it's from Old Navy. It's perfect for spring and even though it's not maternity, it's a great fit for a momma with a baby on the way.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. I am done, done, done with winter. I've decided to just pretend it's spring (even though it was snowing yesterday). This may or may not result in frostbite. But I just can't deal with pulling on another pair of boots (do you have any idea how hard it is to put on boots with a belly in the way?!?) So flats and spring colors it is for the rest of this "in-between" season.

Are you guys feeling the same? Or are you actually seeing some sunshine in your part of the world? (If so, I am just the teeniest bit jealous.)

dress and re-dress.

{Necklace: J. Crew Factory | Blazer: Similar | Shirt: J. Crew Factory | Purse: Similar | Shoes: Similar}

There's really nothing like a bright red blazer on an overly cloudy Chicago day. You have to make your own lemonade er cool-aid, right?

I realized something today about the way I dress. I pick out an outfit every morning and then I touch up that outfit throughout the day. Let me illustrate. Yesterday morning I threw on my usual knee-high boots (no-brainer) as we were late for a play date. But then as I was trying to take a nap (a side effect of this pregnancy), I realized I had a way better pair of shoes in my closet that I don't wear nearly enough. So I threw them on when I went out for my doctor's appointment. This happens all the time whether it be a change of lipstick, an addition of a necklace, or the removal of a scarf. Part of the problem of being a stay-at-home mom, I suppose. But it does result in the best possible outfit combination by the end of the day even if no one besides my family sees it!

Am I the only who does this? Please tell me you touch up your outfits too!

tickled pink.

{Sweater: Similar | Shirt: Similar | Necklace: J. Crew Factory | Jeans: Amazon | Trench: Gap | Purse: Similar | Shoes: Forever 21}

When you see pink, aren't you just tickled? Especially if it's bold enough and bright enough, which I think this outfit is.

Of course, this was my Valentine's date night outfit. I don't think I could have been more Valentine-sy if I tried. Well, I did try and that's why I am Valentine-sy. The weather decided to be a little nicer for one day that is. So I donned these pretty pink-tipped flats and decided to swap out my sad winter coat for this refreshing trench. It may look like spring in these photos but don't be fooled. I was shivering so much I guzzled my hot buttered rum...um mine without the rum...so make that hot butter. But I did it all for the sake of fashion and if you do anything it really should be for fashion...right?

neutral.

{Headband: Etsy | Top: Similar | Shorts: J. Crew | Bag: Louis Vuitton | Shoes: J. Crew}

I am all colored out.  I've just been craving a neutral palette lately.  And let's face it, in my book mint is a neutral, so that color has to stay.

I'm not usually a headband girl but I came across this Etsy store somewhere in the blogosphere.  And since turban headbands are in, I decided to give this a whirl (thinking it wouldn't work).  And I love, love, love it!  Because the headband is made out of a vintage fabric, I decided to go a little retro with my look...the red lips, the button earrings and my vintage-y headband.  I also love that I can wear this little guy a number of ways (i.e. more turban-like).  This is not a sponsored post.  I am just one happy customer.
