a little bit fall.

{Sunglasses: TJ Maxx | Jacket: Similar | Sweatshirt: Similar | Scarf: Similar | Shorts: Gap | Purse: Rachel Zoe | Shoes: Similar}

So I've just realized that I am kind of love with the way an open scarf looks (hence the last two outfits). I think it adds a lot of interest to a relatively simple outfit. I especially love the way it looks here. It just adds so much.

And I am really starting to feel like myself more and more each day. I feel like my sense of style is starting to come back and I am not just restricted to maternity wear and large oversized items. I feel like I lost my style a little bit during this pregnancy because I wanted to cover up my arms or I felt like I had to try to mask my large belly. I don't have those problems anymore. And it makes me so, so happy! I feel like a new and refreshed me and I am ready to dive back into my closet (and this blog)!

On another note, I have become a reading machine. It's one of my favorite things about nursing. Every time I wake up in the dead of night to nurse B, I have my trusty Kindle by my side. I've blitzed through three books since he was born. Having a good read awaiting me every time I drag myself out of bed makes those dreary nighttime hours go by so much faster. And more importantly, it makes me love nursing. What is usually a tedious chore becomes a beloved, quiet moment between me and my babe (and my book of choice). And dare I say, maybe it makes me hope just a little (teensy bit) less for a child who sleeps through the night. Right now I'll take my quiet, peaceful moments where I can get them.

navy and orange.

Sometimes all you want in the world is comfort and ease. And this was just one of those days. I didn't want fussy layers or accessories. I didn't want to have to think about pulling an outfit together. I just wanted something simple. And you know what I really, really like getting back to the basics. Putting an outfit like this together may not be rocket science, but it looks put together and still has a little bit of pizzazz (thank to those adorable shoes). And sometimes outfits like this let you shine. You don't have to worry about readjusting necklaces or messing with layers. You can just be.

Do you guys sometimes crave a simple, easy outfit? And when you wear one do you still feel great? I know I do!

orange and purple.

When you look at photographs of yourself on a weekly basis, you tend to critique them...a lot. For instance, these photos are telling me I needed a haircut like yesterday. My hair is just getting too long and not in a pretty, flowy sort of way. I'm actually tempted to chop quite a few inches off, but then I remind myself of the bangs that I hated (and still hate) and wonder if it's really a good idea.

I'm waiting until after our trip to Puerto Rico (which is in a week and a half!!) to decide. I figure long, wavy hair (even if it isn't the pretty kind) is good for hot beachy weather.

pumpkin carving attire!

{Top: Similar | Vest: J. Crew | Jeans: Old Navy | Shoes: Target}

Since we had friends over this weekend for pumpkin carving and painting, I needed to keep my attire relatively relaxed you know in case a whole thing of paint was thrown at me. Very possible my friends, very possible.

 I still wanted to look cute and put together. I love the colors and seasonality of this look. Very fall. And can I just say...I am in love with these shoes! My friend Chris posted about them and I am so stinking happy with them. This is just a warning that you may see these babies more often than you would like. Every outfit in my head gets better if I pair these with it.

Do yourself a favor, go buy these babies. You won't regret it. I sure as heck haven't!

fall in an outfit.

{Sweater: Similar | Shirt: Similar | Pants: Similar | Boots: Tory Burch}

Okay let's talk about my no good, bad, horrible day yesterday. My husband's birthday is today (happy birthday honey). And it's kind of a big one, so I felt like I really needed to pull out all the stops. Yesterday I planned to make his favorite chocolate chip cookies and chocolate peanut butter muffins (yes he likes chocolate). Once I had made everything (yes AFTER I made everything), our oven decided not to work. Not to be thwarted though, I realized there is an oven downstairs in the meeting room, so no worries...that is until the muffins had been in the oven for over an hour because apparently it doesn't actually work. Awesome. So now I have muffin batter and cookie batter and no way of cooking it. Insert tantrum here.

So then I came up with a great idea. Instead of throwing the batter away, I'll just microwave it. Bad idea. I literally started a fire in our microwave that my husband had to put out because I was just freaking out. Yeah happy birthday honey.  Oh and we live in a big building so everyone was trying to figure out where all the smoke was coming from. Yeah that would be us. Awesome.

I promise I can actually cook...maybe just not without an oven.  Here is to flying by the seat of my pants with this whole birthday thing.

The good news is at least these outfit photos are cute...right? I mean there's a silver lining there somewhere...

taking a walk on the wild side

{Top: Old Navy | Pants: J. Crew | Clutch: Nine West}

This is me taking a walk on the wild side...isn't it crazy?!?  I actually didn't think this outfit was quite that "wild," but when I asked my husband his opinion that's what he said.  Men...apparently you put on a pair of polka dot pants and you are dancing with danger!

To be honest, I kind of loved this outfit.  It was bold and the colors just looked so good together.  I was surprised how easy these pants were to style.  I see combos with hot pink, mint, red and yellow...pretty much any color in the rainbow!

I hope you all have a wonderful day! And remember it's good for your wardrobe if you walk on the wild side every once in awhile!
