tickled pink.

{Sweater: Similar | Shirt: Similar | Necklace: J. Crew Factory | Jeans: Amazon | Trench: Gap | Purse: Similar | Shoes: Forever 21}

When you see pink, aren't you just tickled? Especially if it's bold enough and bright enough, which I think this outfit is.

Of course, this was my Valentine's date night outfit. I don't think I could have been more Valentine-sy if I tried. Well, I did try and that's why I am Valentine-sy. The weather decided to be a little nicer for one day that is. So I donned these pretty pink-tipped flats and decided to swap out my sad winter coat for this refreshing trench. It may look like spring in these photos but don't be fooled. I was shivering so much I guzzled my hot buttered rum...um mine without the rum...so make that hot butter. But I did it all for the sake of fashion and if you do anything it really should be for fashion...right?

casual.

{Snood: Similar | Top: Similar | Jacket: Similar | Jeans: Similar | Shoes: Similar}

{Goose head shadow: priceless}

Okay, okay I know that I am casual pretty much every day. But this is even more casual than usual, I think. I wasn't planning on taking photos this day, but since the temperatures are dropping and the days are shorter I can't afford to pass up any opportunity. I can be pickier when summer rolls around.

Let's talk about this snood. First off, I really hate that word. Couldn't they think of something that sounds slightly more stylish and classy? Snood is just not cute. But if there were ever a snood that could be considered cute, it is this one. I so, so love it. I think I could wear it with just about anything. It falls in just the right way...not too short and not too bulky. Just perfect.

black tights and booties.

{Jacket: Similar | Necklace: Ann Taylor Loft | Dress: Old Navy | Tights: Target | Shoes: Similar}

Okay so you want the goods on how to be a stylish, trendy person? Here's my answer: Wear black tights and booties. I know it sounds crazy, right? But seriously if you wear those two together, you will look and feel like the most stylish person on the block. True story.

Another important tip. If you see Blago's face on the sidewalk, you must include him in your outfit photos. It just needs to happen. Enough said.

All kidding aside, I've never really been a tights person (or as my husband calls them: stockings. Really hon? Really?!?) But now I just may be. I also have a pair of bright fuchsia ones. Can't wait to see where those take me.

just another outfit.

{Sunglasses: Similar | Sweater: Similar | Tee: Hanes | Scarf: Similar | Pants: Gap | Shoes: Sperry}

You guys I am so stinking beat. I would much rather curl up in bed than do anything else. I took the easy way out today. I have no inspiration. Zero. Zippo. None. So instead of putting together a well-thought out post that might actually interest you guys, I decided to just post another outfit.

If I had a fall uniform, this would be it. Oversized sweater, check; fun scarf, check; stretchy pants, check; and comfy shoes, check. Basically the equivalent of pajamas minus the scarf. And I call myself a style blogger. Go figure.

Oh and just for the record folks, today I found out that my son might possibly grow up to be 6'8". What the what. Not cool little dude, Not cool. Maybe you could just take a growing break? Maybe just maybe?

I promise I will be more inspirational tomorrow.,,maybe.

awe-inspiring.

{Top: Ann Taylor Loft | Jacket: Similar | Jeans: Old Navy}

{Left to right: Renegade Cluster Bracelet | Zebra bracelet | Watch}

Just the Aspens in all their loveliness.

I wish I could say that my outfit is what's awe-inspiring, but alas it is not.  Look at this beautiful Aspen grove.  Can you think of a cooler place to take photos?  I mean wow.  I couldn't resist sharing a few photos of the grove itself.  They were just too pretty to pass up.

I like that my outfit is not super colorful against this backdrop.  Tell me to dress like an Aspen and I will.

On a side note, we had another wildlife encounter.  At about 3:30 in the morning, we heard a loud crash.  In my sleepy stupor, I thought to myself, what's wrong with those crazy college kids.  Then I realized there are no crazy college kids...instead it had to be a hungry, bumbling bear.  And it was!  We peeked out the window and there he was munching on the remains of our fried chicken and barbecue ribs.  When he had finished picking through the garbage, he waddled away.  I say waddle because he was kinda fat from eating all that garbage.  Silly little bear.

I'm linking up with The Pleated Poppy today.  Aspen grove and all.

And just an FYI, I have finally turned off that annoying Captcha thing on the comments so hopefully it  will be a lot easier to comment.

miss mix-a-lot!

{Shirt: Ann Taylor Loft | Pants: Ann Taylor Loft | Shoes: Target | Clutch: Similar}

Just call me little Miss Mix-A-Lot!  This is definitely my boldest pattern mixing venture to date.  Usually I try to go more subtle, but I threw that out the window.

I wore this to dinner with some friends.  I asked my husband if he thought I looked cute.  And his response was a whopping "hmmmm."  Not exactly the reaction I was going for especially when I only get the opportunity to go out once every three months.  He didn't think the outfit matched.  I'm hoping that he doesn't know what the heck he's talking about.  I would hate to think that all those looks I got were people wondering if I got dressed in the dark.

Oh well, the truth is sometimes people can't handle bold trends.  As long as I can handle it, who cares?  But really, you do think this works...right? (That's my annoying self-conscious side showing through.  Just ignore her.)

doing the red, white and blue

{Blazer: Similar | Top: Similar | Scarf: Similar | Jeans: Similar}

First, I want to apologize for not posting yesterday.  We had a hard day on Wednesday.  We traveled all day (because we had a delay) and I ended up feeling a bit under the weather.  But through all that, I managed to look patriotic! So much so, that several people commented on it.

I think this outfit came off looking patriotic but not over the top.  And don't think me silly but I tried to have a little bit of fun with this photo shoot.  Sometimes I get bored of the same old poses so it was fun to switch it up!  I try not to take myself too seriously.

Our vacation has been good so far.  I am working on this post while hanging out by the pool.  If I could blog like this every day, I would!  And we just had lobster sandwiches for lunch and I will not tell you how many I had...you would be disgusted!

I'm linking up with Friday Fancies this week.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

my perfectly pink pout

{Sunglasses: Kate Spade | Dress: Similar | Vest: Banana Republic | Necklaces: Similar | Shoes: J. Crew}

Hello lovelies!  Are you ready for the Fourth?  I am!  I've been brainstorming outfit ideas all day.  The Fourth is so exciting (beyond the fireworks, the barbecue and the sun) because you can color coordinate without being totally obvious.  And let's be honest red, white and blue is one of my favorite pairings!

I'm a little bummed that I wore this dress this weekend because it would be a great holiday outfit with my red blazer. But I think I have some pretty good options up my sleeve!

Okay maybe I should stop blabbing about the Fourth...and now go on a rant about lipstick!  You guys for some reason red lipstick is so easy for me to buy and wear.  Maybe the shades are more flattering to every skin tone...I don't know.  But I can buy virtually any red or shade of red and it works.  Now pink...not so much.  But I have found the most perfectly pink lip color and I love it.  It's so gorgeous and it just pops!  If you guys need a perfectly pink pout, you've gotta try L'Oreal Paris Infallible Le Rouge in Fearless Fuschia.  I've got no stake in this.  I just happened to pick it up and it's wonderful!

Do you guys have any great go-to pink lipsticks?  If so, do tell!  I think I've made it known that I have an addiction!

Polka Dots and Paisley

{Jacket: Forever 21, Scarf: Similar, Tee: Similar, Jeans: Gap, Shoes: Sperry}

Happy Wednesday ladies!  How is your week going?  The weather has finally (finally!) changed in Chicago.  It's been absolutely gorgeous and we've been at the park every day.  Days like that make me happy to be a stay-at-home mom!

My polka dot jacket is new and I love it.  I wanted to spice it up a bit so I added some paisley to the mix.  And this scarf is one of my go-to's.  Because of the colors, it's so easy to pair with just about anything!

Funny story, this outfit was too good to pass up on the photo taking front, but it was just one of those days where we ran out of time and had to get Talinn to bed.  So we literally jumped out of the car and snapped off a few shots in our...parking garage.  Yeah, that's our parking garage.  Classy...I know.
