I'm busy burning the midnight oil because my baby is in no mood to sleep. So instead of trying to unsuccessfully catch a few zzz's, I decided to blog. Sleepless baby means more productivity. That's an exhausted mom looking at the glass half full.

Every day I draw my blinds, the sky is gray and the ground is white. I am completely over this colorless, cold, brutal winter. And I'm starting to crave color so my days don't all look the same. It's funny. At the beginning of winter all I wanted was grays, whites, blacks and blues.
Now those colors are taking a backseat (or being shoved to the back of my closet). Now is the time for color, pattern and punch.

What about you? Are you keeping the winter blues at bay with a good dose of color? Or are you still sticking with your neutrals?

*I'm still working on finding a groove with my blogging so please bear with me! I'm hoping to get back on a somewhat regular schedule as soon as possible, Thanks for continuing to read!

getting ready on the fly.

So my style has changed now that I have not one but two kids. There are a lot of things that are different. Silk? Keep it far, far away! High heels? With a toddler on the loose? Necklaces? More like choking hazards (for me not them)!

My "get ready" time has drastically diminished now that there are two wiggly, opinionated, somewhat difficult beings that need to be cleaned, dressed and fed. Who knew that a two-year-old boy would have such strong feelings about clothes. Every day we have the same conversation: We cannot wear our basketball shirt to bed, accidentally pee on it and then wear it out in public the next day. And the clock just keeps on ticking through every fiasco and the next thing I know I have 10 minutes to pull myself together. I always feel like people should pat me on the back when they see that I have dressed myself and my two littles.They never do, so maybe I'm wrong on that account.

If I want to look like something other than a tired, frenetic mom of two and actually select an intentional outfit (rather than digging through the laundry pile) that means we cannot leave the house and the iPad plays a very, very important role. This is obviously me on one of those better days.

Here's hoping I have a few more of them!

modcloth style challenge.

Ladies, I'm back! I know I've been quiet around these parts but we've been transitioning to being a family of four (and it hasn't been all roses and sunshine). And of course as much as I love you guys, my family comes first. Our littlest is finally on a schedule, so that means I have a few quiet minutes that need filling! What better way to start back to the blog than with a challenge from Modcloth!

I was asked to create an outfit with the "In the Key of Chic" dress. Since it's still a little cool in my parts for a dress like this, I paired it with a gorgeous green coat and some stunning cameo earrings. I just love the whole look and I hope you do too!

Is this outfit making you crave sunshine and warmer temps like me?

the coatigan

{Coatigan: Target | Chambray: Gap | Jeans: Old Navy | Shoes: Anthropologie | Bag: Similar}

As usual I was shopping the aisles of Target for necessities when of course I got distracted by the pretty baubles and eye-catching fabrics NOT in the necessity aisle. I had recently put a "coatigan" (part cardigan, part coat) on my "want-to-buy" list and lo behold, look at what I found at Target...a coatigan. And to be honest, I love it so much more than the ones on my list. I love the drape, I love the colors and I love the belt. Throw on a chambray shirt, some jeans, the standard red lip and some pretty, patterned loafers and what do you know, you have a picture perfect outfit.

Gotta love that Target or should I say, women love it, husbands hate it. If that's not an rousing endorsement I don't know what is.

nursery tour.

{transformed Ikea bookshelf}

{the little man himself}

For some reason, I just can't capture the charm of this room with the camera. It's light and bright and airy (contrary to the photos) and even though it's the size of a shoe box, it's become one of my favorite places in our home.

I am by no means an interior designer but I do love decorating. And this project was so much fun. I wish I had taken before pictures because the room had a major transformation. It was a small, useless space before. Now it has so much character and I love spending time in it.

We painted the room this perfect mint color, which gave it a major facelift. And then we tried to re-use as much as we could. We repainted our black Ikea bookshelf and made it a dresser. And we re-used our crib and some of T's artwork. We bought the rug from Overstock to cover up the (nasty) carpet. And we purchased a small rocker that fits the space quite nicely.

I am so very lucky that my mom is generous and such a talented seamstress! She made most of the crib sheets and the curtains. I really, really just love this space! What do you think?

dusty coral and forest green

{Cardigan: Langford Market (Similar) | Chambray: J. Crew | Sweater: Gap (Similar) | Pants: Gap (Similar) | Boots: Madewell}

Lately I've been in a rut when it comes to getting dressed. Maybe it's because only a quarter of my clothes fit. Maybe it's because I have so many clothes stuffed in my teeny, tiny closet I can't even move the hangers. Maybe it's because I can't clean out said closet because well, if I were to clean it out today I would get rid of ALL my clothes because they don't fit. See the dilemmas of being a fashion blogger and having a baby?

But now for the good news. I was paging through magazines prior to a haircut looking for something good to read and I picked up a special edition of Lucky. It has 100 perfect outfits and let me tell you they are darn near perfect. Every morning I casually peruse the magazine (while my children are screaming at me) until I land on the right inspiration. Then I walk over to my closet (the teeny, tiny one) and discover my perfect outfit.

This look is inspired by an outfit of forest green and dusty coral. Unfortunately, I don't have any dusty coral but I do have coral (close enough in my book). And I love the way it turned out. I never would have reached into my closet and grabbed these two colors but I'm glad I did.

What's inspiring you to dress these days?

can you hear the kids screaming in the background?

{Blazer: Gap | Shirt: Similar | Jeans: Similar | Shoes: Similar}

Folks, we are getting to the point where taking outfit photos is starting to get real embarrassing. I mean I"m fine with it. I'm totally cool with looking like an idiot. It's my husband who doesn't like looking like one.

Take these photos. We were going to a circus event (in a rush as usual because we can never seem to leave on time EVER.) And so we had to hurriedly take these photos in front of all the other families heading to the event. But the real kicker is we leave the kids in the car (don't worry we don't abandon them...we take the photos right outside the vehicle). And we put the windows down so we can talk to them. Well, during this particular shoot (and let's be honest many of them), T was kicking the seat screaming at the top of his lungs because well, we are taking photos and he is sitting in the car. Meanwhile everyone is staring at us because I am vainly having my husband take my photos while my children are clearly not having it. And of course he's done and I"m like, "Take one more like this. Oooh how about this. How's this look?" And so on and so on.

I think the real solution to this problem is buying a house where we have a YARD so that we don't have to cart our kids on EVERY single photo shoot. (Hence maybe another reason why we've been lacking on the outfit photo front). Don't you wish there was video accompanying these photos? The things I do for this blog.
