It's time for a new series! Lust vs. love. It's all about items that I lust after but then I fall in love with a cheaper version. I am really digging the cheaper loafers. They have been in my online cart for weeks. I love the the pop of color on the sole. I actually think they are better than the more expensive version!
UPDATE: The lust shoes are now on sale for $44.99, so they are both pretty good deals. You still save $20 with the Target pair though!
Okay this is an instance where I actually like the lust blazer better. Those gold buttons are such a great detail. But let's be honest I'm not going to spend over $100 for a colorful blazer that I can only wear every now and then. These Old Navy options are a really great way to add a pop of color to your wardrobe without killing your pocketbook.
I would really like to get a winter coat in a stand out color but it just doesn't make sense when I have to have a neutral color on hand too. I'm all for spending money on a good winter coat but does it really make sense to spend a ton on one that isn't very versatile? I actually love both of these options equally and let's face it, the color is spot on. So why not save $265 and get the cheaper version?
I love all these options! You did a great job finding some cheaper alternatives to those expensive pieces. I will say I waited until the after Christmas sale to score a J. Crew light tan peacoat for $70 last year - TOTALLY worth it, it is so well made and warm. I'm hoping to do the same thing with their colorful coats and blazers this year, because you're right - I can't afford a $300+ coat that isn't a neutral!
ReplyDeleteCatherine that's such a great suggestion! Definitely gonna check that out!
DeleteI'm in LOVE with this feature. What a great idea! I actually like some of the loves better than the lusts. That coat is gorgeous. I have one in the same color that I got about five years ago and continue to get loads of compliments on it. It's surprisingly very versatile.

I usually spend the money on a good winter coat every few years (I bought a black one a few years ago). Then I'll buy a colored coat to supplement, but I don't break that bank on that one. I love the love blue coat!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post--I'm all about the bargain finds! I think I like the "loves" better anyway (although you're right about the blazer--the lust option does look a little nicer). But that coat...I'd take that cute tie-waist option any day!
ReplyDeleteGirlfriend... did you see the coats at Target? They're kind of awesome!!
