our last walk.

'

It's been a hard weekend friends. We made a big, big decision to give our dog back to my in-laws since we have a baby on the way and a toddler on the move. We live in a mid-rise condo building with no yard and a fair amount of stairs, so getting out twice a day to walk her with two littles in tow would be more than a little challenging.

All logic aside, I feel like we are missing a huge part of our family and I haven't had a dry eye since we said goodbye. Bodhi was there as my husband and I navigated our way through our first years of marriage, she transitioned with us as we bought our first home, the home that we would bring our first child home to and she learned with us how to love more than any of us knew we could as our little pack grew.

Now my home feels empty and hollow. But deep down, I know that soon the empty halls will be filled with the gurgles of a newborn baby and the excitement of a new big brother. I know I will be able to concentrate my love and attention on my new, larger family without feeling torn in too many directions. I know it's the right decision, but that doesn't make this any easier. I miss that furry little face more than I can possibly express.

I know I don't usually share a lot of my personal life here but I had to be true to myself and my feelings today and I hope you don't mind. Tomorrow I will be back to regular scheduled programming.

  1. So sorry Linds. I know it must feel like a huge void right now. But you are right that soon the void will be filled and overflowing! Thinking of yall.

  2. So sorry! We had to give away my precious cat when I was pregnant with my second, he was my first baby and the reason we thought we were pregnant with my first and KNEW we were pregnant with our second. I thought about him the other day when I pulled out his toy from a drawer...smiled...and then tucked it back away. It's hard but two kids are plenty to keep you busy!

  7. I'm so sorry! You mentioned your family was in town but you never mentioned this. I'm so silly to go on about the stupid outlet while your heart is breaking. So sorry! Hugs to you friend!

  9. Oh, Lindsay! You've totally got me sniffling! I'm so sorry for the parting of this member of your family. It sounds like it was a good decision for all parties, but that doesn't ease the missing. Hugs, Lovely!!! ~Sarah

  11. I am so sad for you and the fam. I know how much a pet truly becomes part of the family, and this is such a tough decision to make. Ultimately it is a smart move, as I can attest to the crazy transition from one to two kids. It is not easy! Luckily, your beloved dog is still in the family, that is the silver lining. Big hugs!
