here's to the last of summer.

{Jacket: J. Crew | Necklace: Similar | Shirt: Old Navy | Shoes: J. Crew Factory | Bag: Rachel Zoe}

I'm thinking this is the last of the shorts outfits and that fall is really here. How happy are you about that? I know I"m pretty pleased!

My husband is leaving for four days and it's just me, a toddler and a babe. Now does that sound like fun or what? {Insert sarcasm here.} Truth be told, I'm actually terrified. But I just need to put on my big girl pants and buck up. Right? Right. {That's me giving myself a pep talk.}

So if it's quiet around these parts for the rest of the week you'll know why. It's because I've either pulled all my hair out or my brain has atrophied from baby and toddler speak.

colorblock cardi.

{Sweater: Similar | Scarf: Similar | Shirt: Gap | Jeans: Gap | Shoes: Similar}

So several years ago, I used to be all about designer duds. It's not something I am proud of and it's definitely not s a course that I recommend. But there are few (read: very few) items that I acquired during this time that I believe will be in my wardrobe for a very long time to come. This cardigan is one of those pieces. I used to wear it all the time when I was working; it's a great piece that has a little bit of pizzazz for my mom days; it works perfectly while I'm pregnant; and I truly believe it will last me until I am much older. There are not very many pieces that can be that versatile or that timeless.

I definitely don't encourage buying designer labels but if you come across a piece that might be more than you would normally spend and you can see it working in every stage of your life, then I think that's a pretty good investment.

black, white and a little indigo.

{Coat: Similar | Shirt: Similar | Pants: Similar | Purse: J. Crew | Shoes: Similar}

Happy Monday friends! I just got back from a girls trip this weekend and it was so much fun! Granted I got very, very little sleep but it was totally worth it. It's nice to not be a mom for just a weekend or to be known as something other than a mom. Does that make sense? Having said that, I was very excited to be reunited with my family. The smiles I received from my little guy at the airport were just about the greatest thing ever.

We have a super busy week coming up as I turn around and leave again on Thursday (not the best planning on my part). So it will be a week of cleaning, doing laundry and repacking. After this though, we are at home for a long while and I'm a little excited and a little nervous to not have anything on the horizon.

How was your weekend? I hope it was wonderful and that you are starting to see signs of summer like we are!

orange and purple.

{Necklace: Similar | Jacket: Similar | Pants: Gap | Shoes: Madewell}

When you look at photographs of yourself on a weekly basis, you tend to critique them...a lot. For instance, these photos are telling me I needed a haircut like yesterday. My hair is just getting too long and not in a pretty, flowy sort of way. I'm actually tempted to chop quite a few inches off, but then I remind myself of the bangs that I hated (and still hate) and wonder if it's really a good idea.

I'm waiting until after our trip to Puerto Rico (which is in a week and a half!!) to decide. I figure long, wavy hair (even if it isn't the pretty kind) is good for hot beachy weather.

springy.

{Necklace: J. Crew Factory | Blazer: Similar | Dress: Old Navy | Purse: Similar | Shoes: J. Crew Factory}

I think I look a little like an Easter egg with the colors and various bands of design around my expanding middle. Nonetheless I love this dress and I love it even more knowing it's from Old Navy. It's perfect for spring and even though it's not maternity, it's a great fit for a momma with a baby on the way.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. I am done, done, done with winter. I've decided to just pretend it's spring (even though it was snowing yesterday). This may or may not result in frostbite. But I just can't deal with pulling on another pair of boots (do you have any idea how hard it is to put on boots with a belly in the way?!?) So flats and spring colors it is for the rest of this "in-between" season.

Are you guys feeling the same? Or are you actually seeing some sunshine in your part of the world? (If so, I am just the teeniest bit jealous.)

two-sided sweater.

{Top: Loft | Vest: Similar | Jeans: Similar | Shoes: Similar}

Happy Wednesday everyone! How is your week going? Mine has been super busy (this seems to be the theme this week). It seems like I can't get any of the little things done like going through the mail, doing the dishes or putting laundry away because I am running around doing a million big things (like trying to get my oven fixed STILL). Am I even making sense?!? One day I would just like to do nothing. Maybe in five years when my kid is in school? Don't burst my bubble here.

Anyway on to the good things...like this sweater. Can I just say, I love it. I mean paisley on one side and stripes on the other, does it really get any better than that? People, it's all about the little joys in life like a two-sided sweater. And finding your long lost wide leg jeans. That's the stuff dreams are made of.

lindsay and the giant grape.

{Top: Similar | Pants: Ann Taylor Loft | Shoes: J. Crew}

If you own a pair of purple bottoms, it's possible (maybe even probable) that you have too many colored jeans and maybe you shouldn't buy anymore.  I'm not sure what I was thinking when I decided to add these to my repertoire.  I mean really how many times can you wear purple bottoms?  I really do love them though.  And a little challenge is always a good thing.  Let's just hope I don't pull these babies out every day of the week.

How many colored bottoms do you guys have? (I have purple, royal blue, mint, red, yellow, magenta, pink...)  Do you have a problem like me???  Please say yes...

Also I'm linking up with The Pleated Poppy today.

I feel like I won the lottery...

{Dress: Target | Lipstick: Revlon Wild Orchid | Shoes: Similar | Bracelet: The Way We Are | Watch: Fossil}

You know that feeling when you are in a time crunch and your kid needs to get home, but you are in Target, which is like your favorite place ever.  All you want is time to peruse everything, but all you have is 30 minutes to check out all the goodies and get all the things you actually came here to get in the first place.

This was one of those times.  I blitzed through Target like a tornado throwing random things into my cart, knowing that I would probably have to come back to return most of it.  This dress was one of those things.  It was too pretty to pass up but I knew the chances of it working were to slim to none.  But you know what...it worked!  And all day long I kept turning to my husband and being like, aren't I pretty?  He started ignoring me when I repeated this for the fourth time (kudos to him for lasting that long).  But honestly, I really feel like I won the lottery with this treasure!

The print is amazing and bold and fun all at the same time.  So Target, I tip my hat to you.  I should never have doubted you.  You clearly know what you are doing.

Navy and Magenta

{Cardigan: J. Crew, Shirt: Similar, Pants: Similar, Shoes: Similar}

Hello lovely ladies!  I hope ya'll had a wonderful weekend, especially you mamas!  I had a splendid day.  I got a new accessory...well I call it an accessory, others might call it a mode of transportation...and I can't wait to share it with you.  My husband outdid himself.  If only Talinn hadn't gotten up at 5:45 a.m. on Mother's Day it would have been the perfect day!  But I guess that's what motherhood is about!

Lately every time I go into my closet, I feel like a crave color and since I have so many pairs of colored denim I'm trying to think of new ways to put colors together.  Not that navy and plum are new but they are new for me.

Other ways to wear variations of pink/purple and navy.
