the coatigan

{Coatigan: Target | Chambray: Gap | Jeans: Old Navy | Shoes: Anthropologie | Bag: Similar}

As usual I was shopping the aisles of Target for necessities when of course I got distracted by the pretty baubles and eye-catching fabrics NOT in the necessity aisle. I had recently put a "coatigan" (part cardigan, part coat) on my "want-to-buy" list and lo behold, look at what I found at Target...a coatigan. And to be honest, I love it so much more than the ones on my list. I love the drape, I love the colors and I love the belt. Throw on a chambray shirt, some jeans, the standard red lip and some pretty, patterned loafers and what do you know, you have a picture perfect outfit.

Gotta love that Target or should I say, women love it, husbands hate it. If that's not an rousing endorsement I don't know what is.

can you hear the kids screaming in the background?

{Blazer: Gap | Shirt: Similar | Jeans: Similar | Shoes: Similar}

Folks, we are getting to the point where taking outfit photos is starting to get real embarrassing. I mean I"m fine with it. I'm totally cool with looking like an idiot. It's my husband who doesn't like looking like one.

Take these photos. We were going to a circus event (in a rush as usual because we can never seem to leave on time EVER.) And so we had to hurriedly take these photos in front of all the other families heading to the event. But the real kicker is we leave the kids in the car (don't worry we don't abandon them...we take the photos right outside the vehicle). And we put the windows down so we can talk to them. Well, during this particular shoot (and let's be honest many of them), T was kicking the seat screaming at the top of his lungs because well, we are taking photos and he is sitting in the car. Meanwhile everyone is staring at us because I am vainly having my husband take my photos while my children are clearly not having it. And of course he's done and I"m like, "Take one more like this. Oooh how about this. How's this look?" And so on and so on.

I think the real solution to this problem is buying a house where we have a YARD so that we don't have to cart our kids on EVERY single photo shoot. (Hence maybe another reason why we've been lacking on the outfit photo front). Don't you wish there was video accompanying these photos? The things I do for this blog.

date night!

{Jacket: Similar | Shirt: Similar | Necklace: Target | Clutch: Similar | Jeans: Gap | Shoes: Similar}

My mom was in town this week so hubby and I got a little bit of a date night. Yay! Babysitters are good but it's even better when you know your kids are with family. We went to a really cool English gastropub and it was so very good. Lots of beer and good food...my kind of date! I even broke out the heels. It's been awhile folks and my feet are feeling it.

I'm also happy to announce that I am no longer wearing maternity jeans. Thank goodness! I'm trying really hard to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight but it's full of ups and downs. I'm trying to be patient but it's hard! I just want to be back in full force with my workouts and my wardrobe! Soon Lindsay, soon.

And let's talk about the little lady who's upstaging me in my first photo. I feel like we should have been taking her photos. I mean that jacket...it's quite the statement!

blue and red.

{Glasses: Warby Parker | Blazer: Similar | Shirt: Zara | Bracelet: Old Navy | Shorts: J. Crew | Purse: J. Crew | Oxfords: Similar}

It's hot guys...like blazing hot. Oh how I wished for those 90 degree days all summer long and now they are here and I want them to go away! I want the briskness of fall. And I want to dive headfirst into my fall wardrobe...booties, jeans, jackets and vests! I want, I want, I want. I am starting to sound like my toddler!

Needless to say I am coping, pulling pieces from fall and pairing them with summer staples. Bringing out my blazers, plaids and oxfords and wearing them with shorts. Usually this is my favorite time of the year because it allows me to get creative with my wardrobe. But 90 degrees doesn't really allow for that, now does it? I mean I just look like a crazy person if I"m wearing long sleeves and a blazer on a 90 degree day!

This may not be obvious to everyone (how it's not obvious I don't know), but being nice to pregnant women is just well, NICE.

Talking about how big they are is not nice. Commenting on how tired they look is not nice. Pretty much any negative comment that you would NOT make to any other woman on the street is 100 percent off-limits with a preggo. Just because a women's pregnant doesn't mean you get to lose your filter. Not cool people. Not cool.

Want to know how to make a preggo's day? Compliment her! I literally almost keeled over from shock when a young, attractive man said hello to me and then told me how cute my shirt was. I mean it's not like men are looking at me these days (Not that I need them to. I am happily married and well, eight months pregnant).

But the fact that a man could be so nice when other women are so not just floored me. It made my day, week and maybe even my month. So the moral of the story, be nice please. That eight-month pregnant lady that you pass on the street who is chasing her toddler...well, it's me or some version of me. And trust me, I know how tired I feel. And I know how big I look. And I don't need anyone reminding me and neither does she.

bubblegum-ish.

{Jacket: J. Crew | Shirt: Similar | Jeans: Similar | Shoes: Similar}

This outfit makes me think of bubblegum, cotton candy or some other sugary treat that sounds all too delicious right now with all the bright pink that's happening. And if you follow me on Instagram, you already know that my shoes are what four-year-olds dream of. They just love these pretty pink slippers!

And I know my four-year-old self would be really proud if she could see me now. I have unnaturally large feet and there just wasn't much selection when I was growing up. My options were always brown and black or some other equally distasteful color. My mother would always push practicality over pretty. Bur really all a little girl wants is to ditch practicality and go for pretty time and again. Am I right?

The good news is my mom doesn't buy my shoes anymore so I can buy all the pretty I want and trust me I do!

pink pops.

{Top: Ann Taylor Loft | Sweater: Similar | Purse: Similar | Shoes: Similar}

Those of you who follow me on Instagram know that I chopped my hair off. Nothing too crazy but still a big change. Other than a late night freak out, I have been really, really happy with my choice. I feel like my new hairstyle is way more stylish and fun. But then I see these photos and {gasp} I am regretting it. My hair never looked like this in real life. But of course here in these photos, it is perfect.

Why does this always happen? I swear in every other photo shoot from the last two weeks my hair just looks bad. And the one photo shoot taken before the big chop and it's perfect. Blarg.

It's official. I can't change my hair without regretting it...ever. Are you guys the same way?!

ocean blue maxi.

{Dress: Ann Taylor Loft | Necklace: Ann Taylor Loft | Clutch: Gap | Shoes: Target}

Hi lovelies! How was your weekend? I was exhausted! I think the week caught up with me and not in a good way. I am starting to feel the weight of being in my third trimester and I am ready, ready, ready for July to be here. Too bad I still have a ways to go!

There's really nothing to this outfit other than a great maxi. The foundation of many a great outfits in my opinion.

Hope your week is off to a good start!

shades of gray and blue.

{Chambray: Similar | Tee: ASOS | Scarf: Similar | Shoes: Similar}

It's hard to want to wear bright colors when it's the tenth day in a row of cloudy skies. So I literally took my inspiration from the weather. Grays and blues it is. Let's hope for some sunshine in the near future for both yours and my sakes.

I've noticed lately that some bloggers are starting to wear their scarves open and I kind of really like that. Sometimes I feel like a scarf is too bulky wrapped around my neck. And then there's the added benefit of camouflaging my belly (although at this stage it's getting so big I'm not sure that anything can hide it).

I realized a little too late that I have a necklace that would go perfectly with this ensemble. Sadly, I didn't think of that until 9 p.m. It might still look nice with my pjs though...

chambray and necklaces.

{Cardi: Similar | Shirt: Similar | Jeans: Similar | Necklace: J. Crew | Purse: Similar | Shoes: J. Crew Factory}

It's completely okay to style an outfit around a necklace, right? Because that's exactly what I did. My mother-in-law got me my very first J. Crew statement necklace. And surprise, surprise I love it. I loved it so much that the very next day I styled a whole outfit around it. I know...I may be a little overzealous.

This chambray shirt was my first maternity purchase. As soon as my old one wouldn't button anymore (read: catastrophe), it was necessary that I find one as soon as possible. I know everyone has said it a million times before but chambray is wonderful. In fact, it could be detrimental when cleaning out your closet. I ended up keeping a few items because I realized they would look great paired with my chambray shirt.

The moral of the story, chambray is a miracle worker. Maybe too good of a miracle worker. It might make you keep clothes you probably don't need.
