I adore this outfit. If I could wear something like this every day, I would. I love the retro shades on my top, the bright, cheery color of my pants, the flirty little skirt around my middle, the simplicity of my sandals...ah it's perfection.
What's not perfection is the current state of my closet. Ya'll that place is no longer a pretty little haven (if ever it was), now it's a place of infinite frustration. I just keep gravitating to the same pieces because it's too hard to try to maneuver through the hanger packed place. I don't know what to do! I mean I could stop shopping but that's not a reasonable request. I could ask my husband to give me his closet, but I already know the answer to that. What do I do??? I'm at a loss! I think I will forever be in this downward spiral when it comes to my closet. It's never going to get better unless a) I somehow get a bigger closet or b) stop shopping. Are there any c) options out there? On a side note, can you tell I've been reading Gone Girl? For those who haven't read it, you should. It's super intense but you can't put it down good.
And since it's Wednesday, I'm linking up with The Pleated Poppy. Have a lovely day lovelies!
Give yourself some kind of challenge. Like... you have to wear each piece of (seasonal) clothing in your closet before you can buy something new. It'll make you realize you've got some amazing pieces and it might force you to get creative with some pieces you never wear.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I've never used them, but I've seen commercials for those super thin hangers that are supposed to free up room in closets.
That's a good idea...but it still sounds hard! I'm gonna have to give this some real thought.
DeleteOK, so if you don't like that idea, just mail me enough tops so that you have room in your closet. (Don't send pants... my badonkadonk and thunder thighs would bust the seams in your pants!) Ha ha ha!
DeleteThat's such a fun top! It looks great with the red pants :-)

chica, do a 30 in 30! Force yourself to wear 30 different looks over 30 days and anything that you just can't (or won't!) make work that's in the closet- donate it! It IS amazing to purge and get down to what you really, really love and wear. Makes getting dressed soo much easier! Lol
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit!
Distinctly M
I know, I know Makaila. I've debated this. It sounds so intimidating to me. But I think I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and do it soon.
DeleteI love the fun print on your top! And I totally feel ya with the closet thing. I tend to wear the same things again and again, but my closet overflows!
ReplyDeleteI love how vibrant this is, as well as that FAB print on your top. You have great style, which means we're obviously destined to be friends! Thanks for stopping by my blog, I'm following you now!

Daryl...thanks for the sweet comment! And thanks for following!
DeleteI have to have a shopping 'break.' I totally understand you right now! I want to kick my husband out of the closet but he just says I should stop shopping. Hmmm... What to do? Love this top by the way!

I think a trip to the Container Store for a closet design consult is in order. We've redone 2 closets in our little house and it's made an amazing difference - I LOVE ELFA and the consultants are awesome at diagnosing what you need and how to be creative about space.
ReplyDeleteI mentioned to Nate your suggestion...his response: just buy fewer clothes. Sounds like a great suggestion. But I need to get someone on board...
DeleteThose photos are AHHH-mazing! Your photographer is a keeper. Maybe to keep her you should give her some of those clothes that don't fit in your closet:)
ReplyDeleteYeah she's a keeper ;). And I think she already has some of those clothes...
DeleteWhat an adorable top, and the lighting in these photos is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! My mom took them and she did an amazing job!
DeleteBuddy... organizing closets are my thing. I absolutely love doing it, BUT it may require you to part with things or at the very least tuck them away. Once my life gets back in order I will come and help you... and then we can go shopping.
ReplyDeleteMan you are the best buddy ever. I can't believe this is your thing! We are totally meant to be friends. This sounds like an amazing plan.
DeleteI totally agree. I could wear a great printed blouse and colored skinnies every day. Love your look! :)

Oh my goodness, that blouse is just perfection - so cute, and such a great combination, too!
ReplyDeleteI totally hear you on the closet thing: I switch mine around twice a year, and store the old season's stuff in the attic until I need it again, but even so, I have absolutely no space, can't see what I have, have to iron everything before I put it on because it's all so crammed in everything's a wrinkled mess, and end up gravitating towards whatever's easiest to see all the time. I have no answer. Actually, I'm thinking buying a new house is probably the only answer for me: I need a spare bedroom just for my clothes!
Ohhh that is a good answer. Think it will fly with my husband? I wish!
DeleteYou look gorgeous! Love those pants...I have some, but mine are slightly lighter. Love how bright yours are!!
ReplyDeleteI just posted in my red pants too! and I love your top - so cute!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit!! Especially the sun glasses shirt- amazing :) I hope you find a way to organize your closet so you can keep shopping!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun little print!

What a lovely summer outfit - the sunglasses print on your top is so appropriate! I hear ya on the crammed closet front. I am constantly trying to clear some stuff out and keep it organized. Feels like a battle sometimes!
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely a constant battle for me! Ughhh just thinking about it brings me down.
DeleteI love your blog! You have such a fun sense of style. And this top is too cute! Perfect for summer:)
