shirt shades.

{Top: Similar | Pants: Ann Taylor Loft | Shoes: Similar}

I adore this outfit.  If I could wear something like this every day, I would.  I love the retro shades on my top, the bright, cheery color of my pants, the flirty little skirt around my middle, the simplicity of my sandals...ah it's perfection.

What's not perfection is the current state of my closet.  Ya'll that place is no longer a pretty little haven (if ever it was), now it's a place of infinite frustration.  I just keep gravitating to the same pieces because it's too hard to try to maneuver through the hanger packed place.  I don't know what to do!  I mean I could stop shopping but that's not a reasonable request.  I could ask my husband to give me his closet, but I already know the answer to that.  What do I do???  I'm at a loss!  I think I will forever be in this downward spiral when it comes to my closet.  It's never going to get better unless a) I somehow get a bigger closet or b) stop shopping.  Are there any c) options out there?  On a side note, can you tell I've been reading Gone Girl?  For those who haven't read it, you should.  It's super intense but you can't put it down good.

And since it's Wednesday, I'm linking up with The Pleated Poppy.  Have a lovely day lovelies!

  1. Give yourself some kind of challenge. Like... you have to wear each piece of (seasonal) clothing in your closet before you can buy something new. It'll make you realize you've got some amazing pieces and it might force you to get creative with some pieces you never wear.

    Also, I've never used them, but I've seen commercials for those super thin hangers that are supposed to free up room in closets.

    1. That's a good idea...but it still sounds hard! I'm gonna have to give this some real thought.

    2. OK, so if you don't like that idea, just mail me enough tops so that you have room in your closet. (Don't send pants... my badonkadonk and thunder thighs would bust the seams in your pants!) Ha ha ha!

  3. chica, do a 30 in 30! Force yourself to wear 30 different looks over 30 days and anything that you just can't (or won't!) make work that's in the closet- donate it! It IS amazing to purge and get down to what you really, really love and wear. Makes getting dressed soo much easier! Lol

    I love this outfit!

    1. I know, I know Makaila. I've debated this. It sounds so intimidating to me. But I think I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and do it soon.

  7. I think a trip to the Container Store for a closet design consult is in order. We've redone 2 closets in our little house and it's made an amazing difference - I LOVE ELFA and the consultants are awesome at diagnosing what you need and how to be creative about space.

    1. I mentioned to Nate your suggestion...his response: just buy fewer clothes. Sounds like a great suggestion. But I need to get someone on board...

  8. Those photos are AHHH-mazing! Your photographer is a keeper. Maybe to keep her you should give her some of those clothes that don't fit in your closet:)

  10. Buddy... organizing closets are my thing. I absolutely love doing it, BUT it may require you to part with things or at the very least tuck them away. Once my life gets back in order I will come and help you... and then we can go shopping.

  13. Oh my goodness, that blouse is just perfection - so cute, and such a great combination, too!

    I totally hear you on the closet thing: I switch mine around twice a year, and store the old season's stuff in the attic until I need it again, but even so, I have absolutely no space, can't see what I have, have to iron everything before I put it on because it's all so crammed in everything's a wrinkled mess, and end up gravitating towards whatever's easiest to see all the time. I have no answer. Actually, I'm thinking buying a new house is probably the only answer for me: I need a spare bedroom just for my clothes!
